2006 Saturn VUE V6 Starting Problems
I have a 2006 Saturn VUE V6. Two weeks ago, the engine light came on. This morning my wife couldn't start the car, I tried by turning the ignition key slowly and it started. It takes my wife two to three tries before the engine turns over.
The engine light turned off after I started the car.
What do you think the problem is and how much will it cost to fix?
First get the battery (and connections) checked to make sure they are good? Most autoparts stores will do this for free.
If battery seems good then problem is with the ignition switch. Its called Pass Lock system.
But is also a sign that the starter is going bad and will need to be replaced. To test the ignition switch, you would use a DVOM (multi-meter) and check for voltage at the power wire (the small one not the larger one) and if you get 12 volts with the switch turned, then the switch is good. The starter replacement will ballpark around $300 to replace (that's parts and labor). Please keep in mind that your cost could vary by new/reman starter and whether you use an Independent repair facility or go to the Dealer.
This will help.
