It's not the only component that can go bad in the power window circuit.<br /><br />To test the switch itself, use a multimeter or test light to verify that vehicle power is arriving at the switch. If a schematic for the vehicle is available, it shows which wire (by color) is receiving the 12-volt power from the fuse. If a schematic is not available, there's still a way to check the switch. With the vehicle power on (key on) and the switch in its neutral position, 12-volt power should only be available at one terminal on the switch.
